Amazon parrots are a group of
birds who are found in Mexico down into South America. They also live on
Islands off of Mexico and South America. They are very animated
and vocal and you can read their moods by their body language.
Males of the larger species can get hormonal during the breeding
season when they mature.
We
breed the Spectacled (White fronted).
The
Spectacled or White fronted, as it is also known, is the smallest
Amazon. They are around 10” long and have a green body, and a very
patriotic looking head with white lores, a blue crown, and a red mask.
They have a horn colored bill and light gray feet.
These little guys have the ability to talk, just not as well as
their larger cousins, but are just as playful and spunky.
A
recommended cage size minimum is 24” x 24”, but larger would be
better, as these little guys can be pretty active.
